Preschool

Stepping Stones Pre-school provides quality care and Foundation Stage education for children between the age of 2 years 9 months and 5 years of age. Staff are fully qualified to NVQ Childcare and Education levels 2 and 3 and Pre-school Learning Alliance Diploma in Pre-school Practice and all staff hold first aid certificates.

Our staff to child ratio is 1 adult to 6 children, which is higher than the national average of 1-8.

We provide a full range of activities within the foundation stage to cover the six areas of learning with Early Learning Goals and Steps.

We are OFSTED inspected and registered for 31 children with the younger children attending in the afternoon sessions. These sessions are developmentally designed for that age group and children progress to the morning sessions when appropriate.

Your child will be part of a small group of children with a designated group leader who will liaise with you about your child’s progress and achievements

We have successfully moved to Northbourne School from our previous base at Didcot Baptist Church and continue with our Christian ethos, which is caring and welcoming to all families, both within Didcot and the surrounding villages. We support the work and care you as families give to your children and work closely with parents and local schools to help to provide the best exchange of information.

We have a comprehensive range of policies to ensure your child is cared for in the best environment and are committed to updating policies and procedures as well as staff training as new ideas and initiatives take place.

We have an enclosed garden space and a good range of outdoor toys and equipment. Where possible we have an open door system so children can come and go freely, weather permitting.

• Children have their self-esteem and self confidence boosted by staff who ensure that their efforts are praised and encouraged.
• Staff know the individual needs of all children and make regular observations to ensure that their learning is progressing.
