The Activities

The team will begin working in two teams. One will be to the Pentecostal Church at Busteni, in the Carpathian mountains, a two-hour train journey north from Bucharest. This fellowship was visited by us in 2001 and there has been on-going financial support since then. There will be a Children's Holiday Club, something of a novelty over there, which will include crafts, games, drama and Bible teaching. An evening programme for adults also be delivered. There is likely to be opportunity to visit in people’s homes and the local hospital. Off duty, there is glorious walking country up in the mountains, accessed by cablecar; former beautiful royal palaces and Dracula’s castle are nearby.

The other team will be to the Boys’ Home called Acasa, meaning “At home”. The boys recently moved into a new specially designed building, accommodating 24 boys in 3 houses’ of 8. Each has a house-mother and dedicated staff. The boys attend local schools, with extra tuition provided by experienced teachers. This part of the team will then travel with 15 boys from the by train to Busteni to join in the holiday club.
